Quaint. Convivial. Unmistakeable.
The Postwagen in Aachen – The ideal place to linger in the historic town of Aachen. Whether for a beer after work, a fine glass of wine or the specialities of Öcher cuisine, you can enjoy yourself in a quaint ambience.
The Postwagen
In its present form, our Postwagen was opened in 1857 directly at the Town Hall. In August 1902 the Postwagen began operating as a restaurant. Georg Buchmeier renovated the building and opened a cosy restaurant for students, artists and visitors to the imperial city. A well-known place for social gatherings and cheery evenings – with a view of the romantically lit houses and streets around the Town Hall.
The spirit of this ambience will now be revived! Known for generations for its high-spirited evenings, the rooms were carefully renovated in 2019 and a new era of enjoyment was ushered in.
The Postwagen – from yesterday to today
Festivals have always been celebrated as they fall here under the old wooden ceilings. Whether you’re on the ground floor with a view of the market or upstairs in the wedding and doctor’s rooms – here you meet not only for a cheery drink, but also for a great in-between meal break.
